![]() ![]() ![]() But I thought that the 77khz would give me a much wider area of view given it emits a larger cone? Confused as to why I would see the same area, unless the 77khz is zoomed to the area of the 200khz to show the same thing.Ĥ. When viewing split screen frequency, I see the same picture but in different detail. I thought chirp combines the frequencies into one? When using split screen am I using chirp or dual frequency?ģ. My unit has a split screen view for both frequencies that show the same picture in different detail. I understand both frequencies have their benefits and show a different radius.Ģ. 200khz (15 degrees) and 77 khz (45 degrees). What's the difference between dual frequency and chirp? My unit features both of these. Have watched some videos and read lots of articles but am still stuck on the below questions (sorry if they're stupid!)ġ. I took it out to Somerset dam near Brisbane and caught nothing, and it's pushed me to try and research more on how to properly use my sounder. At the moment, I'm using it for depth but can't really say it's helped me catch fish at all - my success is purely down to repetition of fishing the same spots and knowing the structure around me. It's a 2d unit, and I find it quite hard to use but that's down to my lack of understanding. So I've had a sounder (garmin striker 4) on my kayak and have transferred it onto my boat (transducer mounted on transom). If not I may just go the cheap option and keep it for the yak. So either way as I will upgrade to a bigger and better unit over the next few months I figure navionics gold is the way to go provided I can move it over to the new unit when I get it. I may be laybying a minn Kota I pilot link 55lb for $2300 and paying it off so, if so it will be a h/bird sounder next. I figure if I buy one I will go the extra now if it will be usable say with a hummingbird hds sounder. I looked at the Lowrane site and saw and update for the actual unit. Looking at the beacon to beacon I realize that it would be a good idea to get it as there are so many banks and channels and it will do my head in having to keep looking at the book. I currently do not have any maps as the areas I have been fishing I know well enough to have done without. But if your running a HDS then you may want to opt for the Navionics. Not as good quality as the Navionics and a touch slower. Some Lowrances take the Micro size and some the standard SD.Īnother option is the C-Map card. The navionics cards come as a MICRO SD card that sits inside a normal SD. You will have to pay for it and they will send you an updated card. To update your navionics maps you need to contact Navionics. What exactly are you trying to do? Update or buy a new card? ![]()
