![]() ![]() Here's a step by step guide how to replace the ASMedia SATA driver (created under Windows 10):ġ. The workaround is to either upgrade or replace the ASMedia drivers with standard (Microsoft) drivers. We have tried to contact ASMedia about these problems, but haven't received any response yet. Since other drivers including default SATA AHCI don't cause any problems, it is believed the problem is in the low quality and reliability of ASMedia drivers. ![]() ![]() HWiNFO performs standard queries to storage (SATA) and USB drivers, but under some specific scenarios ASMedia drivers don't handle these requests properly and can cause several problems including a system crash/BSOD, HWiNFO crash or disappearing or connected devices. I have looked in other forms for a potential fix using regedit, but they only work for on-board SATA controllers not external PCIE.Due to the growing amount of problems I'm receiving that are caused by ASMedia SATA or USB drivers handling devices connected to those controllers, I'm publishing more details including a guide how to resolve these problems. I have tried to install the latest drivers for this SATA Controller but no luck in that (Latest Release was in 2013). I cannot change the mode of a single SATA port as there are no options for the controller on the bios, I actually have to re-flash the SATA controller to change modes. If I change to IDE mode, all of the 2 SATA ports will turn to IDE mode. The SATA controller runs at AHCI mode and I can convert to IDE mode to solve my problem, but I need hot swap enabled for another drive going to be attached to this controller. Now disabling the tray icon is not ideal for me as I also have an external usb HDD which can only be ejected through the "Safely Remove" tray icon. Now I do not want this to happen as I do not want to ever eject that drive ever. On Windows 10, the "Safely Remove" option is enabled on the drive as shown bellow: I have an internal HDD attached to a PCIE SATA controller with an Asmedia ASM1061 chip on it. I've been scratching my head for a while with this. ![]()
